Southwest Oil and Gas Field has achieved multiple important results in pipeline magnetic leakage internal detection through independent innovation and technological breakthroughs, which not only improves the technical level of domestic oil and gas field enterprises, but also sets an example for the global industry
Southwest Oil and Gas Field has achieved a breakthrough in independent development in the field of pipeline magnetic leakage detection technology. This achievement not only demonstrates the breakthroughs of Chinese petroleum enterprises in key technologies, but also provides strong technical support for ensuring national energy security. The following is the specific situation regarding the independent implementation of pipeline magnetic leakage internal inspection in Southwest Oil and Gas Field:
Technology Implementation and Innovation
On April 11, 2023, as the magnetic leakage detection equipment smoothly entered the pipeline receiving cylinder, it marked an important step forward for Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company in the field of pipeline magnetic leakage internal detection technology. The baseline detector used this time, combined with a magnetic flux leakage detector, can achieve comprehensive physical examination of pipeline depression deformation and defects, and accurately obtain the three-dimensional coordinate trajectory of the pipeline centerline. In particular, the detector is equipped with 36 sets of three-axis detection probes and Hall sensors, which can accurately detect axial, radial, and circumferential magnetic leakage signals at pipeline defects, identify and quantify defect length, width, and depth dimensions, and achieve precise detection.
Successful application of large-diameter pipelines
In November of the same year, Southwest Oil and Gas Field independently implemented magnetic flux leakage internal testing for large-diameter pipelines for the first time. This testing was completed in a 813mm large-diameter pipeline, which was the largest diameter pipeline internal testing project independently implemented by China Petroleum Group's 16 oil and gas field enterprises. In order to improve the accuracy of pipeline defect positioning, the magnetic flux leakage detector is specially equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to ensure accurate calculation of the pipeline centerline trajectory and defect position, and to control the positioning deviation within 1 meter. This indicates that Southwest Oil and Gas Field not only has the ability to detect small-diameter pipelines, but also can ensure efficient and accurate detection results when facing larger challenges with large-diameter pipelines.
Optimization of Small Diameter Sulfur Containing Pipeline Inspection
For the small-diameter sulfur-containing pipeline with a diameter of 168mm, Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company's Safety Research Institute has conducted specialized research and improvement. The optimized magnetic flux leakage detector has a total length of 2.24m and a weight of only 70kg, and is equipped with an inertial measurement unit to ensure detection accuracy. Due to the characteristics of small diameter, thick pipe wall, and high sulfur content of such pipelines, conducting magnetic flux leakage internal inspection operations poses risks such as tool jamming, loss of external defect data, and corrosion of inspection equipment. By improving and optimizing the structure and performance, these problems have been effectively solved, greatly enhancing the safety and reliability of small-diameter sulfur-containing pipelines.
Construction of internal detection capability and future prospects
Southwest Oil and Gas Field will continue to conduct in-depth research on raw signal interpretation and defect quantification technology, and continue to deepen the construction of internal detection capabilities. In addition, Southwest Oil and Gas Field has made significant progress in addressing corrosion issues in high sulfur gas fields, including the independent development of wet gas pipeline internal corrosion direct assessment technology and risk-based regional internal corrosion priority evaluation pipeline identification method, which has achieved rapid screening of high-risk pipelines with internal corrosion and improved the pertinence of integrity management. These efforts will help further improve the pipeline maintenance system and ensure the safety and stability of natural gas transportation.
In summary, Southwest Oil and Gas Field has achieved multiple important results in pipeline magnetic leakage internal detection through independent innovation and technological breakthroughs, which not only improves the technical level of domestic oil and gas field enterprises, but also sets an example for the global industry. With the application and development of more advanced technologies, it is believed that in the future, Southwest oil and gas fields will play a more important role in ensuring the smooth and safe flow of national energy arteries.
