Magnetic flux leakage detection technology and development status
The magnetic flux leakage detection method is usually listed as an electromagnetic (EM) nondestructive testing method together with eddy current, microwave, and metal magnetic memory. This method is mainly used to detect corrosion, cracks, pores, pits, inclusions and other defects on the surface and near the surface of ferromagnetic materials such as oil and gas pipelines, oil tank bottom plates, wire ropes, steel plates, steel pipes, steel bars, chains, steel structures, welds, buried pipelines, etc. It can also be used to measure the thickness of ferromagnetic materials.
Magnetic flux leakage nondestructive testing technology is widely used in steel, petroleum, petrochemical and other fields. my country's various industrial fields are still in the initial stage of understanding, recognizing and citing magnetic flux leakage detection technology. Principle and characteristics of magnetic flux leakage detection
When a magnetizer is used to magnetize the ferromagnetic material to be tested, if the material is continuous and uniform, the magnetic induction lines in the material will be constrained in the material, the magnetic flux is parallel to the surface of the material, almost no magnetic flux lines pass through the surface, and there is no magnetic field on the surface to be tested. However, when there are defects in the material that cut the magnetic flux lines, the defects on the surface of the material or the change in the organizational state will cause the magnetic permeability to change. Since the magnetic permeability of the defect is very small and the magnetic resistance is very large, the magnetic flux in the magnetic circuit will be distorted, and the magnetic induction lines will change their paths. In addition to a part of the magnetic flux directly passing through the defect or bypassing the defect inside the material, some of the magnetic flux will leave the surface of the material, bypass the defect through the air and re-enter the material, forming a leakage magnetic field at the defect on the surface of the material. If the method of using magnetic powder to detect the leakage flux is called the magnetic powder detection method, and the detection using a magnetic sensor is called the leakage magnetic flux detection method.
